I got to commune with the book as part of her Village Deathcare Citizen Course in the Spring of 2021— all the more inspiration for this project.
the cat’s eyes, so sunny by day
cast a chilly glow last night
seven stars were reflected there
she watched them dip into the light
she watched them dip into the light
Selena’s eye was opening
to guard the rainbow souls
the cat saw them ripple on high
dreamed about them colored whole
she dreamed about them colored whole
this was a dawning mystery
she’d never known before
she watched until her souls grew tired
and then she dreamed about them more
